At this moment, all I can say is I miss Sidney. It has been 3 years since he left us and I am missing his company. May God bless you Sid.
Pets play a big role in our lives and they should be loved and cherished. Pet owners are filled with so much joy from all their rendezvous with their adorable pets and even regard them as their 'darling daughter' or 'son'! So do we. This blog is all about our darling little paws; Gabrielle, Isabelle, Hercules, Alexander, Victoria The 2nd,Napoleon, Ms. Constantine, Jerry and the late Sidney, Troy and Victoria The 1st...

A Letter to our Son Sidney
To our dearest Sidney,
A year has gone since you left us to be at the Rainbow Bridge. We hope you're happy and doing well there with brother Troy and fellow friends. There was never a moment that we had forgotten you. You are dearly missed, Sid. For a year we have been carrying your collar with us wherever we go, so that both you and Troy would be close to us, watching us from up above.
Dearest Son, Sid,
Our love for fur balls started with you. From that moment we fell in love with you at SPCA and decided to adopt you until you left us in misery because of leukemia and FeLV, you have brightened every second of our lives. From there we started having more kids like you. We vow to take good care of them as you have taken good care of us. Too bad you've only met sis Gabby before you left but we're sure you're now very close friends with Troy. Sid, after Gabby and Troy, we have adopted many more like you. They're Isabelle, Victoria II, Hercules, Alexander, Napoleon and now Constantine.
How we wish to have you back with us. We talk about the good times we've had with you almost all the time. How you were so very obedient and loving towards us. Those were the best times of our lives, Sid. We can't help but cry while writing this to you but we do hope you're happy wherever you are. Take good care of yourself and li'll bro Troy. We assure you Sid, that no matter how many other fur balls we have, you'll remain our favorite and we'll never forget you.
Pray for your daddies and keep a watchful eyes on us and your other siblings. You're greatly and dearly missed by all.
Love,
Abah & Ayah.

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge
This poem is dedicated to our deceased children; Victoria I, Sidney, Troy and the Palm Garden Babies.
We love and miss you very much...
Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
Author unknown...
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....
Love,
Abah & Ayah

We Miss You Dear Sid
Ayah was a bit down when he was suddenly reminded of Sid. How fast time had flew. A month has gone since Sid left us.
I understand why Ayah was suddenly feeling sad. Earlier he wrote a thank you letter to SPCA for the effort put in rescuing and fostering before the animals are being adopted by new owners, of which, two of our lovely children came from; Sidney and Gabby. As a matter of fact the late Victoria (whom i had not the chance to introduce here) was adopted from SPCA and had died because of FeLV (Feline Leukimia) too.
Indeed, Sidney remains the most special kid we've ever had. It was really different with Sid compared to any other children we've had. Sidney was emotionally attached to us. He was a part of us, of our existence. Sid could understand our feelings well. He could feel what we felt.
If ever we could live a day with Sid again, we would cherish that moment and freeze the time so that it wouldn't and couldn't end. Unfortunately those are just hopes because in reality Sid had left us, forever.
To Sid, no matter how long it was the last time we saw you, your face and presence will remain fresh in our hearts and will be forever felt.
Love,
Abah & Ayah

A Week Without Sidney
Today marks the 1st week Sidney had left us. The memories are still fresh, the visions are still here. I would cry everytime I start to think of him .
I am suddenly reminded of how much I miss Sidney biting my ears. He would do that especially in the morning trying to wake us up. The biting wasn't really using his teeth but his lips. It was more of a nibble than bite. Sid would nibble our ears until we move as the nibbling was really ticklish.
Another thing i remember about Sid was his inability to control his claws. His claws would be caught in anything he touches - especially clothings, bed sheets, table cloths.
As i've many times mentioned, Sid was an obidient son. It was very easy for us to feed him his conditioning vitamins and somehow difficult with Gabby and Troy. We would have to only put the vitamins on our palms and Sid would come and chew it off. When Sid was sick, administering tablets were easy too.
A few days back Ayah had put Sidney's collar in the car. He hang it at the signal lever. When asked why, he said "so that Sid would be with us wherever we go". How sweet and I'm very sure Sidney will be looking after his two daddies from up above. The Heaven. :-)
Love,
Abah & Ayah

Sidney in Memory
The name Sid came from the character Sid in Ice Age 2. Ayah suggested to name our first 'child' after the playful character in the animation and true enough, like the character, Sid was playful, jovial and of course, funny.
Actually, the character 'Scrat' in the same animation would have better described Sid. Only because Sid was a nicer name, we opted and used that, and yes, of course, because of the pair of round eyes, we chose the name Sid instead if Scrat.
If you've seen Ice Age 2, like Scrat searching for his acorn, Sid would jump around and about when he saw Ayah's hands or feet under the comforter. He would bite his might and when the hands or feet moved, Sid would playfully jump and try to capture the moving 'monster' under the comforter.
Sid liked to play with anything that moved. Apart from the 'monster under the comforter' game with Ayah, Sid enjoyed playing with strips of newspaper attached to the end of a 'penyapu lidi'. He would jump, run around, stand on his two hind legs to get his hands on the strip of newspaper. Once he got it, it was more hillarious!
Above all funny things Sid did. the funniest was when Sid fell off Abah's bed in Melawati. Remembering the look on his face will always make me smile and thank God for blessing us with Sidney. As a matter of fact that was the last time we saw Sid in his pinkiest of health.
Losing Sid is a traumatizing experience. Seeing him abruptly weakened was a heart breaking experience. However Sidney, having you in our household was the best experience we could ever have. Every moment with you was sweet. Every while spent was worth the effort and time put.
We could sometimes still imagine you in the house. Your presence will always be felt Sidney. Only God knows how much we love you. How we wish to still be able to touch you and see you play...
Love,
Abah & Ayah.

Terlalu Istimewa... Rest in Peace Sid...
Sinar mata itu
Lirik senyumanmu
Pesona yang membelai
Wajahmu bercahaya
Memberi bahagia
Tiap yang memandang
Hati jadi salju
Kau terlalu istimewa
Kasih dan sayangmu terpancar
Seikhlas tiada batasan
Terus membara
Terkilan rasa jiwa
Ingin ku lihat mu dewasa
Apa daya
Tuhan lebih menyayangimu
Ku pasti kau berbahagia
Duduk di sampingnya
Mendengar cerita
Sekadar rahsia
Tak tertanggung rindu…
Mendengar suaramu…
Tawa mengusik jiwa…
Three days after Abah's post about Sidney falling sick and exactly a month after Sid suffered, he had left us yesterday on June 28th 2006 a little after 8am. Sid apparently had stroke on the left side of his body probably caused by the FIP disease he is suffering from.
We burried Sid in a very simple funeral in Atok's backyard at Taman Melawati at 10:30 in the morning. Sid was burried with his toy, the Giraffe (see picture below).
Sidney will be greatly missed by all; Abah, Ayah, Auntie Tata, Ibu @ SPCA, Atok, Tok Ngah, Mak Long, Uncle Sapit, Cousin Arif, Auntie Sri, Gabrielle and Troy.
Abah and Ayah would like to thank Uncle Sapit and Auntie Sri for taking good care of Sid throughout the last days of his life.
Rest in peace, dear son. Thank you for being a part of the family.
Love,
Abah & Ayah.

Rest in Peace Sidney
home. For what I can say, Sidney is a very good cat. He is one obedient cat. There's nothing wrong with him to adjust himself with the new home. I am so happy at that time. It has been the most happiest day in my life.. One thing about Sidney is that he likes to follow wherever I go around the house. Even if while he's sleeping, a slight movement will wake him up. I'm going to miss that moment, having him following me wherever I go. Sidney, or Sid as we used to call him by the short name, is a bit shy with other people though.. He doesn't like those who he just met. This happened when my nieces come over to our place. Sid will either play dead or hiding behind the television. Somehow, it'll all changed when they left. Maybe he felt uncomfortable with other people, who knows.. In order to makes him happy, we've adopted another cat. A female cat called Gabrielle or Gabby. Things are ok between them.
When we heard that he is infected with Feline Infectious Peritonitis( FIP) and Leukemia, I am speechless. A young cat, not even a year old, have been infected with the two killer diseases. As the week goes by, Sid is getting thinner, didn't move much and didn't even have the appetite to eat. We were so worried that we've decided to do something. At least to make him eat. Unhappy with the news from the vet that we took Sidney earlier, we took him to another vet in Danau Kota. It was introduced by Shahrina. Apparently, we were told the same thing. There were only tears to show our sadness. The vet suggested to put him to sleep to end his suffering. But, having to think about it, we don't have the guts to do it as we love him very much.
Then, we have decided to move Sid from our place to another home in Melawati. At least to prevent it from affecting Gabby. Days goes by, with a good care, there's a slight change in Sid. But, the viruses, which totally shut down the immune system, it didn't last long. Sid was in critical condition one fine Saturday. We rushed back to Melawati and visited him.
On the 28th June 2006, Sid left us. I think maybe his time has come. I regret that he didn't live long. I'm so sorry that he suffered but I hope that he have the care and the attention that he deserved. I hope we have given him the life he wanted. Now, I can't stop thinking about him. He is and will aways be remembered. I hope he has a good life in the other world. Sidney, thank you for giving us the joy and happiness. You will always be here in our heart..

Mana Nak Sama Sidney Seorang…
In the midst of joy having adopted Gabby, our first son fell sick. Sidney was diagnosed with feline leukemia (FeLV) and is FIP positive (Click here to know about FeLV) + (Click here to know about FIP). We understand Sid may have been transmitted through his mother at birth since SPCA didn’t know his origins.
It all began when Sid started having fever and swollen lymph node. The active and playful Sid suddenly became a passive and quiet cat. We were devastated to know that with FeLV Sid would have a maximum of 6 years lifespan but because of the existence of FIP in his body, his lifespan is shortened to six months only.
We feel disappointed to suddenly see Sid becoming sick. It is very unlikely of him to just sit quietly at a corner in the house. The vet told us, and of course from our reading, there isn’t a cure to the diseases. Sidney started becoming very thin as FIP will shrink the organs; liver, kidney, lungs, heart – everything! He lost his appetite and we have to force feed him.
We seek for a second opinion from Auntie Tata’s vet but were told the same – no cure and a suggestion to put Sid to sleep. We were told that looking at his condition Sid has less than a month to live. Auntie Tata was also there, thank you for being there for us and for Sid. We cried at the vet. I felt like it was the end of the world. So this is how it feels to lose a child.
After much thinking and discussing with Ayah, we decided not to go ahead with the suggestion to put Sid to sleep. To us it’s unethical. We rather take care of him until he breathes his last breath. Our main intention when adopting Sid was to give him a good and happy home. We tried our best and taking care of him was the least we could do.
However, since FeLV and FIP are highly contagious through sharing of litter pan and food, transmitted to bodily fluid and stool, we were advised not to keep Sidney in the same house as Gabby.
Currently Sid is in Taman Melawati, caged and separated from the rest of Atok’s 20+ cats. Uncle Syafiq offered to look after him. We would visit him whenever we can and spend quality time with him whenever possible.
Our days pass by longing for our son’s presence in the apartment. We dearly miss you Sidney. We’re very sorry we cannot keep you here, for the sake of your sister Gabby and your brother Troy. Deep inside we know you understand our decision. We hope these last days of your life are filled with lots of love and happiness.
We love you dearly Sidney.

Mana nak sama Sidney ku sayang
Dua tiga lagi boleh abah cari
Mana nak sama Sidney seorang”

The Two Unite!
One fine Sunday in early June after a lot of hissing and marking territories throughout the week, our two children finally unite.
Uncle Syafiq saw Gabby licking Sidney's head and Sidney 'surrendering' to the motherly actions. Lucky us, we managed to get this event on tape. Ruginye Ayah was not around at that time to witness. Tengok gambar je la Ayah ye!
Love,
Abah & Ayah
p/s we knew the two of you would get along well eventually. Congratulations kids!

Sidney & Gabrielle Together
At last, after three days (May 30th 2006) being together in the house, Sidney and Gabrielle had become closer. Although at times, some hissing was heard coming from Sid, at least this positive improvement in our childrens' relationship gave us hope that somehow adopting Gabby was not in vain.

When The Two Kids Met
Just look at the picture above. One was looking to the left and the other to the right. The first time the two kids met they refused to get acquainted. Maybe Sid feels that his territory is trespassed, we don't know, yea since now Sid will have to share his room, his food and even his toilet with a new cat!
But i believe Sid will get along well with Gabby when the he gets to know her better. Moreover the reason for adopting Gabby was to get a friend (if not a sister) for Sid. Ahahah to our darling son, enjoy the company!

Abah and Ayah

Sidney : Our Temple of Happiness
Abah's baby Sid or full named Sidney was adopted from SPCA mid April 2006. Now Sid is about 8 months old. Sid is named based on Ice Age charachter because he has a similar pair of very round eyes and is as playful and jovial.
Sid would wait at the door for his abah and ayah to come home and play with him. Already toilet trained when we got him and always at his best behaviour, Sid is a blessing to our already happy home.
The first time we saw Sid in the SPCA cage, he beamed with love and had a promising look in his eyes that we'll have a jolly good time with him around. We straightaway went to Pets World to get a cat's neccessities (we bought a cage, a carrier, food, a collar, litter sand, litter box and of course a bowl) for our little boy. We returned to SPCA and adopted Sid the same evening.
To Sid, you have made our lives meaningful. We love you. Thank you for the good times. We promise to take good care of you and to give you a caring and loving home in return for the happiness you give us.
Love,
Abah and Ayah.

Welcome to the Family, Gabrielle
Well, since one is never enough.. And since Sid is left alone in t
he house while we're working.. We've decided to adopt another cat. So, last sunday (28th May, 2006), we went to SPCA to just take a look at the cats. Well, we brought Sid along to meet him with his caretaker. So, as we were looking around.. Then there was this cat that caught my attention. A mix persian cat at the corner cage. So cute and so pretty, she was called Manja. After some really tough decison-
making moments, we've adopted Manja from SPCA. On the way back, we decided to give her a new name. So, that is when Gabrielle pops up! Or, in short form, Gabby. Welcome to the family, Gabby!
Do cats take time to mingle around and get to know each other? Hmmm.. Sid and Gabby do have some hissing (or what u call it these days, but i think it's more into hissing) between them but didn't fight. That's a relief. At least they will need more time to get to know each other. Anyway, I love both Sid and Gabby! Hehehehe..

New Member in the Family
Hello there..
Last week was the greatest of all. Adopted a cat from SPCA, called Sid
(name taken from the character in Ice Age and Ice Age 2). Six months old Sid joined the family. He's damn cute. Kinda makes me feel happy everytime with him. The best thing is, Sid will stay at home while we went to work. At first, I thought that it's dangerous to leave your pet unattended at home. He doesn't like to be kept in the cage. But when I got back, everything is ok. He will be there to wait for my return. He's the greatest. Sooo manja la.. Hehehhe..
Anyway, got a few photos of Sid. Just can't stop looking at him. It's a great relief to just look at his cute face and all my problems fade away.. You might never know that cats can really help release your stress. I love cats! Hehehe.. And I love u very much 'SAYANG'.... Muahs! Muahs! Muahs! Muahs!By: Ayah from his blog
